PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN SEOUL HOLDS TRABAHO, NEGOSYO, KABUHAYAN SEMINAR FOR FILIPINOS IN KOREA

25 August 2019, Seoul. One hundred seven (107) Filipinos in Korea attended the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Seminar organized by the Philippine Embassy, through the joint efforts of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) and the Embassy’s Consular Section on Sunday, 25 August 2019 in Seoul.

Ambassador Noe A. Wong commended the participants on their continued interest in preparing themselves for their future, and noted the impressive number of attendees to the seminar. “As almost all of you are EPS workers, I would like to say that you are very fortunate because your employment conditions here in Korea allow you to save money and receive adequate social insurance benefits, which gives you the advantage of making substantial investment or securing capital for starting your own business in the future.” He affirmed the Embassy’s commitment to provide continuing programs that would support the plans and dreams of every Filipino in Korea to become an investor or entrepreneur as these are key to the country’s national development.

Collaborating resource persons from the Embassy were Labor Attaché Ma. Celeste M. Valderrama who presented the National Reintegration Program for OFWs, Vice Consul Lyza Marie Viejo who handled the topic Investment Options for Overseas Filipinos, and Commercial Counsellor Jose Maria Dinsay who discussed the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) TNK program and key steps on becoming an entrepreneur.

“The bottom line is attitude”, says Mr. Ramon Fernando, CEO of Nippon Tech Philippines, and a former OFW turned successful business owner who gave a presentation on Negosyo Tips for OFWs. He encouraged the participants to continuously discover business ideas especially while here in Korea, seek every opportunity to acquire new skills, master their craft, and complement one’s hard work with faith in God.

The TNK seminar on investment and entrepreneurship development is part of the Philippine Government’s Reintegration Preparedness Program for Filipinos in Korea. For those who intend to pursue the full entrepreneurship development course, PTIC’s Commercial Counsellor Dinsay announced that the next seminar will be on 13 October 2019. END

PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN SEOUL LAUNCHES THE FIRST AGRI-BUSINESS SEMINAR WITH FARM DEMO TOUR FOR FILIPINOS IN KOREA

Seoul, 18 August 2019 – The Philippine Embassy conducted the first ever Agri-Business Seminar on Mushroom Production for Filipinos in Korea.

The project was launched by the Embassy as part of the Agri-business Reintegration Program spearheaded jointly by the Philippine Agriculture Office (PAO) and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO OWWA) in Seoul, in cooperation with Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and the Education Promotion and Information Services (EPIS).

The program, which was attended by forty-five (45) OFWs, provided the participants with a comprehensive seminar on mushroom production using smart farm technology, with actual farm operations demo and facility tour of the Chungnyang Mushroom Farm in Gangwon Province.

The resource speaker, Mr. Kim Minsoo, is the Chief Executive Officer of Chungnyang Mushroom Farm and President of Korea’s Mushroom Growers Association. For developing internet-based farm operating system, he was given a Presidential Award and named a Star for Future Farming.

Ambassador Noe A. Wong lauded the MAFRA-EPIS for extending their information services on smart farming to Filipinos working in Korea and providing them with actual exposure to new farming technologies and productivity tools. He encouraged the Filipino community to continue to avail of the government’s Reintegration Preparedness Program in order maximize the benefits of overseas employment and ensure that upon their reintegration, they can apply what they learn from Korea and succeed in operating their respective enterprises in the Philippines.

The participants, who are all OWWA members, commended POLO OWWA and PAO for conducting the pioneering agri-business seminar on mushroom production for Filipinos in Korea, citing that the combined lecture and actual farm exposure greatly helped them understand the requirements for operating a mushroom farm and use technology for increasing agricultural yield and profitability.

Under the Reintegration Preparedness Program, the Embassy also conducts continuing Livelihood Skills Training, Financial Literacy and Education, Investment, and Entrepreneurship Development Seminars to help prepare the OFWs in Korea for their orderly and productive return and reintegration. SEOUL PE CONDUCTS CONSULAR OUTREACH IN BUSAN

Seoul, 29 July 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in South Korea conducted its two-day consular outreach mission on 26 and 27 July at the Solidarity with Migrants office in downtown Busan. It was the fourth consular outreach undertaken by the Embassy this year.

The six-member Consular Team was led by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Ella Karina R. Mitra and was assisted by the Filipino Community Center (FCC) headed by its Chairman, Mr. Danny Guerra.

The Consular Team extended a total of 374 services including passport applications, civil registration, notarials, travel documents, NBI clearances, and certifications during the two-day outreach. END
