NOMINATIONS TO THE MIGRATION ADVOCACY AND MEDIA AWARDS 2017
The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to inform the public that nominations to the Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards 2017 are now formally open to any media outlets, institutions and practitioners in the fields of print, radio, movie and television, advertising and internet from the government and private media organizations in the Philippines and abroad.
The MAM Awards aim to recognize the significant role of the media in raising awareness on issues on Filipino migration as well as advocating the cause of, and promoting a positive image of, Overseas Filipinos. The nominees may be based in the Philippines or outside the country.
The MAM Awards consist of six categories:
- The Print Journalism Award
- Best magazine/newspaper /newsletter on migration
- Best book on migration
- The Radio Journalism Award
- Best regular radio program on migration
- Best radio program that featured migration-related topic/issue/event
- The Television Journal Award
- Best regular TV program on migration
- Best TV (episodic) program that featured migration-related topic/issue/ event
- Best TV series that featured migration-related topic/issue/event
- The Film Media Award
- Best films (full length) on migration
- Best documentary on migration
- The Interactive Media Award
- Best website on migration
- Best blog on migration.
- The Advertisement Award

NOMINATION FOR THE GAWAD GENY LOPEZ JR BAYANING PILIPINO AWARDS
Seoul, 12 February 2017 - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to informa all Filipinos in Korea that the nomination process for the Gawad Geny Lopez Jr., Bayaning Filiino Awards is still open until 15 February 2017.
The Gawad Geny Lopez Jr., Bayaning Pilipino Awards aim to recognize individuals who in their simple ways exemplify Filipino values:
- Promote Filipino culture and heritage through a showcase of the Philippines's best and a moving forward through education;
- Encourage positivism and participation in the community;
- Focus their efforts to serve others, at times breaking norms or innovating; and
- Transcend social barriers
Nominees should be in active community service, have successfully mounted and fulfilled a project, and have made an impact in a community may it be in the Philippines or in the country they are currently in.
Regional winners will be awarded in hteir respective areas, while country winners will be flown to the Philippines to atteend the awarding ceremony on 28 June 2017, Independence Day.

PHL EMBASSY ADMINISTERS OATH TO OFFICERS OF INTERNATIONAL TALENTS IN SOUTH KOREA AND GWANGJU FILIPINO WORKERS ASSOCIATION
22 April 2025, Seoul. The Philippine Embassy, led by Ambassador Theresa Dizon-De Vega, recognized and administered the oath-taking of the officers of International Talents In South Korea and Gwangju Filipino Workers Association on April 13, 2025 at the Sentro Rizal Conference Room, Philippine Embassy, Seoul. The organizations were also awarded their Certificate of Registration, which symbolizes and reaffirms their commitment to help protect and promote the general welfare and interests of the Filipino community.
In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Dizon-De Vega encouraged the Filipino community organizations to continue supporting, organizing and collaborating, emphasizing that a cohesive and engaged Filipino community is vital to the success of initiatives promoting migrant welfare, cultural identity, and reintegration. She also reaffirmed the Philippine Embassy’s steadfast commitment to closely collaborating with Filipino organizations on key issues and concerns, while remaining attuned and responsive to the evolving needs of kababayans in South Korea.
Witnessing the recognition and oath-taking were Vice Consul Jill De Dumo-Cornista and Welfare Officer Cornelia D.G. Chanco.
