DEPARTURE GUARANTEE INSURANCE LOAN FOR FOREIGN WORKERS
The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to share with the Filipino community in Korea, upon request of the Human Resource Development Service of Korea (HRDK), the announcement regarding the Mortgage Loan on Departure Guarantee Insurance (DGI) for foreign workers which aims to ease certain difficulties faced by the workers during this period.
According to the HRDK, a foreign worker (E9 and H2 visa holders) may apply for loan amounting to at least 50% of his/her respective accumulated DGI premium if he/she is:
- not able to depart Korea due to lack of flight or an entry ban in one’s home country, and his/her employment ended after 1 February 2020;
- involuntarily terminated from employment due to company closure or shutdown; or,
- ill or injured and needing at least four (4) weeks recovery period, leading to his/ her release/ change of workplace.

EMERGENCY DISASTER RELIEF FUNDS FOR FOREIGN RESIDENTS IN SEOUL
The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to inform the Filipino community in Seoul that the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) has decided to include foreign residents in its emergency cash assistance payout scheme to help them cope with the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to SMG, foreign residents who meet the following requirements are eligible for the support:
- If the head of the household is a holder of one of the following visas: D-1, D-3, D-5, D-10, E-1, E-10, F-2, F-4, F-5, G-1 (excluding G1-10), H-1, H-2
- If the head of the household has been registered as living in Seoul for over 90 days since reporting their Alien Registration Card (as of 27 August), and has reported their residence (starting on or before 28 May).
- If the total income of the household is less than the median income.

Online applications can be made from 31 August to 25 September 2020 through http://fds.seoul.go.kr, or through 40 designated sites, including the Seoul Global Center and the Seoul Counseling Center for Migrant Women.
