AMBASSADOR MARIA THERESA DIZON-DE VEGA MEETS WITH ROK MINISTRY OF EDUCATION DIRECTOR GENERAL LEE HAE-SUK

SEJONG, 8 MARCH 2022 – Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Ma. Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega met with Director General of International Cooperation Bureau Lee Hae-Suk at the ROK Ministry of Education in Sejong City. Director Lee was joined by Deputy Director Joen Boae of the International Cooperation Bureau and Interpreter Kang Sera. Ambassador De Vega was joined by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Reisha Olavario.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the importance of facilitating two-way academic exchanges between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. Ambassador De Vega reiterated that it is in the best interest of both countries to facilitate on-site and in-person academic exchanges and mobility of those in the academic sector, COVID-19 protocols permitting, as vibrant PH-ROK relations are anchored on strong people-to-people ties.

The Embassy of the Philippines is pleased to note that Filipino students who have been accepted to universities and institutions in the Republic of Korea continue to do well in their students, submit quality outputs, and participate actively by contributing high-quality outputs in their respective coursework. The engagement of current and new academics, students, researchers, academic and research fellows augurs well for educational cooperation.

Ambassador De Vega looked forward to working with Director General Lee and the MOE’s International Cooperation on Education Bureau on more collaborative projects, including using new tools and technology for education between the Philippines and Korea. END
