DFA STATEMENT ON THE POSTPONEMENT OF THE PRE-ENROLLMENT PERIOD FOR ONLINE VOTING

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul shares the following statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on the Postponement of the Pre-Enrollment
Period for Online Voting:

MANILA 08 March 2025 - The Department of Foreign Affairs welcomes the Commission on Elections' initiative and foresight to postpone the start of the pre-enrollment period for the Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) from 10 March to 20 March 2025.

The Commission's decision to move the schedule of the pre-enrollment is proof of its commitment to safeguard the integrity of elections overseas.

The Department hopes COMELEC's decision for postponement shall enable it to ensure that the OVCS passes all the testing and certification required by Republic Act 9369, the Election Automation Law of 2007, prior to its launch.

The Department, for its part, is ready to implement the OVCS upon COMELEC's direction, and remains resolute and committed to fulfilling its mandate of administering the vote to registered Filipino overseas voters during the overseas voting period from 13 April to 12 May 2025. END

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul joins the celebration of the 2025 National Women’s Month and International Women’s Day in March.

This year’s National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) with the sub-theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” reinforces the core objective of RA 9710, or the Magna Carta of Women—to empower women, promote gender equality, and ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities. The 2025 NWMC further emphasizes the need for inclusive progress, ensuring that no woman is left behind in the journey toward equal opportunities and empowerment. The celebration further aims to:

Increase awareness and advocacy for gender equality, resulting in greater recognition of women’s equal rights, power, and opportunities across all sectors;
Enhance the inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable sectors of women, including indigenous women, rural women, and women with disabilities, through targeted initiatives that ensure their participation and access to programs and resources promoting inclusive development;
Strengthen multi-sectoral collaboration with government agencies, LGUs, NGOs, CSOs, and other stakeholders, leading to improved policies, access to services, and sustainable opportunities for women; and
Improve policies and gender-responsive governance, ensuring the sustainability of gender equality efforts beyond 2025.
