The Philippines will participate at the International Exposition of Zarogoza 2008, an international event regulated by the International Exhibitions Bureau which will be held on 14 June to 14 September 2008, in Zaragoza, Spain.

Expo Zaragoza 2008 aims to be a cultural celebration of the fruitful relationship between water and human communities. It also promotes, among others, a new water culture, linked to sustainability; create general awareness of the problems and opportunities related to water; and to show the best experiences and innovations put into practice around the world. This year’s theme is “Water and Sustainable Development.”

The Philippine participation to the Expo is guided by the theme which is very relevant to its priority thrust to maintain an ecological balanced environment, which is a primordial universal concern. It will also bolster the Philippines strong foothold as the “world’s number one dive site.”

Taking off from the Expo Zaragoza’s theme, the Philippine pavilion presents itself as the “Archipelago as Future Perfect Waterworld,” where archipelago is more than just a geographic description but also a vital cultural attitude interspersed into a nation’s way of life. Visitors will be introduced to ten of the Philippines’s standard setting water management initiatives, together with about 250 successful community-based projects from all over the country.

To further sustain the feel of the islands, the pavilion also has a “Coffee Nook” offering the Travel Café Philippine Drip Coffee and roasted coffee beans for tasting and demonstration on coffee preparations; the Agua y Olio, a mini-spa where guests would be treated to a sensory experience of traditional Philippine massage known as “Hilot,” and the Agua Pacifica – the Pavillion boutique that asserts “Philippines Naturally” merchandise from top Filipino producers.
