Filipinos applying for a Legal Capacity to Marry a Foreigner or Report of Marriage to a Foreigner are required to watch a short video presentation on the situation of Filipino spouses in South Korea. The video discusses life in South Korea and lasts for only twenty (20) minutes.

Those who need to secure a marriage license must undergo marriage counseling which is conducted for free at the Embassy every Sunday (9:00 am -4:00 pm), Monday and Thursday (9:00 am - 3:00 pm).

After step 1, duration may vary depending on the applicant's concern.

For the Filipino applicant: Submit pertinent requirements (bring originals and one photocopy) for evaluation such as:

  1. DFA-authenticated NSO Birth Certificate
  2. DFA-authenticated CENOMAR from NSO
  3. Passport

* Data for names of the Filipino and his/her parents, birthdates, and birthplaces should match in all three documents

Additional Requirements:

* If divorced from former marriage, present DFA-authenticated NSO Marriage certificate with annotation on the side stating recognition of divorce by Philippine courts;

* If widow/widower, present DFA-authenticated NSO Death certificate of spouse and DFA-authenticated marriage certificate with former spouse

* If prior marriage was annulled in the Philippines, present DFA-authenticated NSO Marriage certificate with annotation stating details of annulment

* For applicants 18-20 years old, submit notarized Affidavit of Parental Consent for Marriage

* For applicants 2l-25 years old, submit notarized Affidavit of Parental Advise for Marriage,

For the foreign national:

Present Passport and one photocopy

Korean Certificate of Marriage Relation (Honin Jungmyeongso) with English translation

If a former Filipino who has an existing marriage recorded in the (NSO) Philippines, present DFA-Authenticated NSO Marriage certificate with annotation on the side stating that previous marriage has been annulled or that divorce obtained in another country has been recognized;

If previously married to a Filipino national, present DFA-Authenticated NSO Marriage certificate with annotation on the side stating that previous marriage has been annulled or that divorce obtained in another country has been recognized; and

If previously married to non-Filipinos, present Judicial Decree of Absolute Divorce authenticated by ROK's MOFA or the Embassy of the country where the divorce was processed.

Obtains LCCM application form, Affidavit for LCCM & advices applicant to fully accomplish the application form.

Evaluates completeness & authenticity of documents submitted; verifies documents if there is reasonable doubt.

Advices applicant and fianc?e that they will need to watch Embassy video marriages between Filipino and foreigner

If applicant wants to receive document by delivery, Consular assistant asks applicant to fill-up delivery form properly.

Advices applicant to proceed to payment.

Shows receipt to Consular Assistant

Leaves Embassy and waits for issuance of license.

Advices applicant that LCCM can be claimed after 3 working days; if for delivery, add another 1-2 days.

Also advises applicant that he/she will need to come back to the Embassy to make a Report of Marriage.
